“Levi John is music and music is Levi John.” The American singer and songwriter, Levi John, embodies this personal philosophy of life as he looks back at an already successful career as a musician and entertainer. Levi landed his first record contract with World Records when he was only 15 and still living in the Caribbean. Levi released several hit singles together with the band, "The Organizations." The songs, "Hearts of Hearts" and "Love Love," were recognized for their unique mixture of Caribbean and Latin rhythms. Levi is considered to be one of the originators SOCA music (Soul Calypso), or as Levi calls it, “Sound of the Caribbean Artist.” Levi John, with his multicultural background, added the Soul and Pop sounds of the USA, re-inventing his own musical style known as, “Caribbean Pop.” Levi faced a new challenge in when he signed with an American musical company. This career decision led to an engagement for big productions off and on Broadway in New York. Levi states, "This time in my career was very special for me. I had grown as a singer and entertainer and was now able to develop an extraordinary connection to my audience.” Even with his hectic schedule of engagements in New York, Canada and the Caribbean, Levi continued to write his own songs. His hard work was rewarded with a partnership between Levi and Polydor/Polygram Records in Montreal, Canada, culminating in the Top 20 hits, "Hey Honey," "Feel Like Dancing,” and “You Shelter Your Love.” Levi began touring the west coast where he had various engagements in Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Las Vegas. During this time, Levi continued his accomplishments as a songwriter, producing the million copy seller, "Sukuma Mama," for an African dancer and singer from the Ivory Coast. When it was time for a new journey, Levi returned to Florida, where he currently resides, and to the studio to produce another album. In collaboration with producer Cliff Downs, whose team had worked with other great artists, Levi wrote ten new R&B Pop songs. The album is a combination of full sounds and an unusual mix of R&B, Jazz, Gospel and of course Caribbean Pop, including the song, “People Helping People.” The CD, "Generations," represents Levi John at his best with a sound that is timeless and unforgettable.
